I finally received my first half of the Comirnaty (Pfizer/BioNTech) vaccine today at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. It was a pretty smooth and easy process; Confirm your text, queue, confirm your identity, queue some more, confirm you're not allergic to *xyz*, and then POKE!
I don't know why, but something in the back of my mind was expecting there to be some amount of banter, a bit of glow, some light hardheartedness and camaraderie about finally getting a leg up on this virus. But there was non of that.
What transpired was the quiet shuffling of people 20ish to 30ish simply waiting to get their shot (surprise surprise). At the heart of it, it was people tired of lock-down and focused on getting back to a normal life.
Here was the process:
Entering from outside to confirm you received the appointed notification.
The majority of the time was spent in line. The first photo was the final stretch, just before getting the jab. Curious to know if the location was deliberate given everyone was greeted with a wonderful view of the Aviva.
My shot was given by Sarah who was "...glad to hear the wait wasn't too long". She confirmed that it's been busy burning through so many people day in and day out, but she's more than ready to take on the challenge. Many thanks to you for your work and for letting me take this photo.
It was advised to sit for 15min before heading off. Everyone was responsible for wiping down their seats before leaving.
All in all it was a very smooth process and relatively quick. I want to thank all of the volunteers, organizers, and doctors for their efforts.
